The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a nationwide directive instructing all state chapters and party officials to immediately refer any court processes or legal documents served on the party to the Office of the National Legal Adviser.

The directive is part of the party's commitment to ensuring a coordinated, professional and legally compliant approach to all matters involving litigation and legal representation.

National Headquarters to Coordinate All Legal Matters

Under the directive, no state chapter, party official or officer is authorised to receive court processes on behalf of the ADC or take legal action in the party's name without the express approval of the national leadership.

The party has emphasised that all legal documents served on the ADC, regardless of the state or jurisdiction in which they originate, must be forwarded without delay to the National Legal Adviser for appropriate action.

This measure is intended to ensure consistency in the party's legal responses, protect the interests of the ADC and maintain proper coordination of all legal proceedings involving the party.

No Engagement of Lawyers Without Prior Approval

The ADC has further clarified that no state chapter or party officer has the authority to engage legal practitioners on behalf of the party without prior written approval from the National Headquarters.

Any legal representation relating to the party's affairs must receive official authorisation to ensure that all actions taken are consistent with the party's legal strategy and organisational procedures.

The National Headquarters has directed all state chapters to circulate the notice immediately to relevant officers and members to ensure full compliance across the federation.

Party officials are advised to treat the directive as effective immediately and to promptly notify the Office of the National Legal Adviser whenever any court process, legal notice or related document is served on the party.
