We Are In Charge and We Will Defend Our Democracy says ADC’s Lauretta Onochie

The National Coordinator of the One ADC movement, Mrs Lauretta Onochie has affirmed that what Nigerians are witnessing is not politics as usual but a calculated attempt to weaken democratic plurality through intimidation, engineered division, and the manipulation of processes that should remain neutral.

She stated that when institutions hesitate in matters that are clear, and when internal party issues are stretched into prolonged uncertainty, it raises serious questions about whose interests are being served, adding that political intimidation, strategic distractions, and delayed processes are not new tactics and are often deployed when clueless ideas cannot compete on equal footing with sound ideological minds.

She emphasized that history consistently shows that no amount of manipulation can permanently silence a people determined to shape their own destiny, adding that Nigerians have arrived at that point.

Mrs Lauretta Onochie then encouraged everyone standing firm within the opposition Coalition not to waver but rather deepen resolve, stay focused, stay united and refuse to be provoked into actions that fracture collective strength. She added that this is not the time to build camps within the Coalition. Instead, it is the time to build and solidify the Coalition because the goal of those who fear a vibrant opposition is division and the greatest response to this is discipline and cohesion.

She maintained that respect for one another must thrive so that the people can collectively tackle what she referred to as “the leeches” sucking the nation dry, while emphasizing that Nigeria does not belong to any one party, any one office or any one group of individuals but rather to every Nigerian.

She also asserted that delays, no matter how calculated, do not rewrite truth, adding that they only test patience. And patience, when paired with conviction, becomes a formidable force.

She then encouraged Nigerians to stand firm, keep the faith and protect the integrity of the ADC, while insisting that the future of Nigeria will not be dictated behind closed doors but will rather be decided by Nigerians in full view of history which ultimately favors those who endure.

In her statement, she added that history is watching and that history is often unkind to those who, in critical moments, chose convenience over courage while encouraging firm stance, strengthened structures and resistance to division.

In conclusion, she emphasized that no delay, courtroom maneuver or political strategy can permanently suppress the will of a determined people, therefore encouraging Nigerians to hold the line and stay resolute as Nigeria will outlast every attempt to undermine it.
